speech and prep for show case

to prepare for the show case we wrote out a sketch for the speech George would be presenting just to give him a rough idea of what to say.

Hello. Me, Serine, Mya and Ellie have worked hard on creating our 2-minute film, called ‘Made In The Estate’, opening based around a drug deal gone wrong.

We felt a UK crime drama would be engaging for a target audience for people from 16-24. In the opening we see a young boy, played by me, encounter trouble as he becomes involved in the drug business.
We tried to contrast the stereotype by having a female drug dealer, as male characters often play them as they are perceived as tougher and more dangerous.
If we finished making the rest of the film we would show the boys attempt at escaping from the trouble he gets himself into or possibly how he plans to get revenge.'

media show case filmed feedback

Above is the feedback we received from our final pieces when we showed our parents and friends. this was eye opening as it allowed us to see a wider range of opinions rather than ur own, as we had seen it over and over we were missing things, this also allowed us to get opinions from an audience with little media knowledge.

media showcase

On Monday the 20th march the media department had a showcase to put forward our two minute openings, George, who played the main character explained the genre and the narrative, although did not go into detail bout the camera work and the music which is all explained on our blogs. so most of our negative feed back was aimed at the 'shake' camera work and the music. But the whole audience understood the narrative by watching the clip and agreed that the chosen genre fits the conventions.

some of the positive feed back related to how the opening made them film was basically the audience wanted to know what happened next to the boy and they felt sorry for him, how ever one not negative but not the best comment was the the viewer was left confused, to be honest i don't understand why they were confused so to step further i feel that they should have elaborated on it, this person also wanted more dialogue, this feedback could just be because the type of film that this viewer watches are not usually like the one we made.

update on Beauty And The Beast

So previously i spoke about my trip to go and see Beauty And The Beast, so I thought the film was great, I felt that the different shots really replicated the cartoon version, and Emma Watson did a great job asa playing Bell, however in the beginning of the film i felt that she looked nervous and awkward and int he cartoon Bells character is more different and intelligent rather than awkward.
However i asked my two younger sisters what they thought of it and they both said that it was too realistic even though it was supposed to be a realistic version of the cartoon, although this could be because of their age and their fantasies on the cartoon, so the new one could have destroyed the dream

certificates

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), originally British Board of Film Censors, is a non-governmental organisation, funded by the film industry and responsible for the national classification of films within the United Kingdom. It has a statutory requirement to classify videos, DVDs and some video games under the Video Recordings Act 2010.
Here you can see the clear classifications for all films.

I feel our film would be rated either a 12A or a 15. I feel think this would be suitable as there could be stronger language and scenes of a sexual nature if we were to continue our opening into a full length film

disability in the media

after talking about disability and how it is portrayed in the media i watched an episode of 'undatables' to see if this followed the stereo type of the negative weak vulnerable people. after watching, i noticed that the programme actuallly  gives the disabled people some power and an idea of a more abled persons life by allowing them to find love. how ever why use their struggle to find love as a source of entertainment for the more abled society, as if  the media are humiliating them in a discrete manner. Also the name Undatables also is quite a derogatory term to call these people as it states that they are unable to do something hat their disability should not effect.
